Different roofing materials
- The most popular types of shingles are asphalt and wood shakes. They’re quite durable, but the main reason people select them is because they’re cost efficient. Three-tab or architectural shingles are available. They’re fairly resistant to weather conditions, although they’re not as sturdy as metal shingles.
- Wood shingles may cost up to two times as much as asphalt shingles, but if installed correctly, they can last up to 50 years.
- Wood framers frequently use timber roofing, which is designed to last a long time. Metal roofs are especially resistant to the elements and can endure up to 100 years, but they may cost as much as four times more than asphalt shingles.
- Tile roofs, on the other hand, can endure up to 100 years if they are properly maintained. However, to support the massive weight of the material, additional support is required.
